Job summary

The Ministry of Defence Police (MDP) is the MOD’s civilian police force which provides a number of specialist capabilities including armed protection, marine policing and criminal investigation. MDP employ approximately 3000 staff at locations across the UK, with its Headquarters located at RAF Wyton, Huntingdon, Cambs. 

 

The Workforce Development Officer role is based in the Workforce Development Team within HR. The team is responsible for the delivery of promoting our MDP officers alongside, other developmental areas which supports the MDP strategic and business plan. This role would suit an individual who is keen to make a difference and has an interest in supporting learning and development, has good interpersonal skills and ability to deal with people appropriately at all ranks / grades, comfortable working at pace and is a self-starter with strong organisational skills. 

 

Previous HR experience is not essential for the role, on the job learning will be provided. Opportunities to gain CIPD qualifications will be available. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Flexible working options are available with the majority of staff operating under flexible working hours and hybrid working. Office attendance to be 40-60% of working hours, flexibility will be required dependant on business requirements.

Job description

  • Responsible for the planning and facilitation of promotion processes for all ranks and liaising with MOD Civ-HR for SCS police officer ranks.

 

  • Responsibility for supporting the development and administration of the 9 Box Grid annual assessment of senior police officers’ process.

 

  • Responsibility of implementation and monitoring ePDRs and career Development on MyHR.

 

  • Responsible for facilitating MDP Rewards and Recognition. Ensuring Certificates of Service and Long Service Good Conduct medals are sent in a timely manner.

 

  • Supporting the design, development, and administration of coaching and mentoring initiatives for MDP staff, engaging with necessary stakeholders.

 

  • Responsibility for maintenance of workforce development SharePoint area and general office management tasks.

The successful candidate should be someone that has / is the following; 

  • Ability to work to strict deadlines.
  • Exceptional organisation with an eye for detail 
  • Enjoys building and maintaining new relationships and can communicate confidently with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, maintaining professionalism at all times. 
  • An adaptable team player, with experience of working collaboratively yet is comfortable using initiative when working alone. 
  • Demonstrable ability to prioritise workload, working on multiple tasks at any one time 
  • Good skills using Microsoft Office applications, in particular Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams.
