Job summary

This recruitment is for an Executive Officer (D Grade) to become a member of Whole-force Establishment Change.  Working with the different Professions Advisory Teams this role plays a vital role in building relationships and good communications to enable the right outcomes for the future of the RAF.  The successful candidate will be part of a cohesive 10-person team consisting of civilians, RAF regular and reserve personnel, so truly whole-force.  

This position is part of the Whole-force Establishment Change team within Workforce Requirements with sole responsibility for the action of RAF establishment change within Joint Personnel Administration and System for Liability Information Management software. Workforce Requirements undertakes a key role in achieving  AIR’s Whole Force structural changes whilst informing and influencing planning to achieve a workforce balance optimised to support agreed RAF and Defence missions and tasks.

This post offers the opportunity for some work to be delivered remotely as approved by Line Management/Chain of Command and in accordance with Head Office guidance.

We are based at Headquarters Air Command at RAF High Wycombe; an attractive place to work, located in the village of Walters Ash. There are good public transport links with regular bus services to/from Aylesbury and High Wycombe as well as free car parking on site.

Coming at a time where the RAF is undergoing several transformation programmes this is an exciting opportunity to join a team that is in the forefront for providing strategic workforce planning data.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

The successful candidate will have a key role in supporting the RAF Professions Programme, reporting to SO2 Whole-force Establishment Change and will be responsible for assisting the RAF's 11 Profession Advisory teams to amend position data as they graduate to competence based career management.

Initially you will share responsibility for the action of change requests within local software systems and develop into the lead for change, supporting the RAF as it graduates to its new Professions structures. 

Working alongside the RAF competence controller and software development teams, you will investigate anomalies and develop ways forward to resolve problems and be pro-active in recognising data trends.

Person specification

The review and cleansing of existing data in local software systems to an agreed RAF Data Standard for the Demand. 

Utilisation of the new software applications to ensure mirroring of data between systems.  

Create bulk updates and technical change requests for Professions Advisors and other data stakeholders for large changes of data. 

Liaising with internal teams, Focal Points and Professions Advisors to ensure the mirroring of data lists between software systems.  

Raise enhancement, bug and query feedback to the software developers as required, including pre-production testing for software updates. 

The creation and maintenance of internal Working Instructions to record local processes.

Collaboratively work with the team to ensure queries are answered by the most appropriate individual in the support mailbox.

Manage and review the content of the RAF SLIM Published Pages, to ensure content is relevant, up to date and user focused. 

Liaise with RN and Army establishments teams to ensure best practice for software application processes. 

Essential:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.
  • MS Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams.

Desirable:

  • The Joint Personnel Administration System – training provided if required.
