Job description

We are looking for confident individuals to join the User Services team where you will be responsible for undertaking testing activities for new and existing products within the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) IT portfolio to provide high quality results. You will write and execute test scripts, working closely with the User Services Testing and Assurance Manager.

The User Services Testing and Assurance Analyst  role will provide support to the wider team to ensure that continuous improvement is implemented to improve the testing service.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Working with the User Services Testing and Assurance manager to Identify key users’ groups to carry out testing of new or reviewed products within DVSA.
  • Conducting testing of new hardware and software collating evidence to support sound conclusions escalating any concerns.
  • Ensuring testing is undertaken following all DVSA processes and procedures.
  • Providing general day to day advice and guidance to a variety of stakeholders.

Person specification

To be successful, you will need to be a proactive and highly organised individual who brings experience of working in an IT testing environment.

You have superb communication and interpersonal skills and can effectively engage and build relationships with stakeholders. You have good attention to detail, and you will be confident co-ordinating the delivery of effective testing and assurance strategy.

You will have experience using digital tools and are confident working independently as well as part of a team.

You will have knowledge and understanding of Active Directory Administration and Azure. You have Knowledge and understanding of Networking i.e., TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, WIFI and network architecture and their components.

You are a confident user of Office365. You can provide evidence of management of system testing activates, which covers all the key functional activities. You will bring with you your experience and knowledge of IT systems.

You are keen to expand your skills and obtain any necessary qualifications with the support of the agency.

The successful applicants will be required to undertake mandatory training to gain the following three qualifications, whilst in post if not already held:

  • ISTQB foundation.
  • ITIL V4 foundation.
  • CompTia A+.

Additional Information

This role can be based in Bristol, Newcastle, Nottingham or Swansea, your presence at one of these locations will form part of the working arrangements agreed with you. We operate a hybrid working model giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work. Our expectation is that you will spend a minimum 60% of your time at your base location. Visits to other DVSA sites or work locations count towards this.

Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement, for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 30 hours per week.

Please note that this role may require the successful candidates to work outside of their normal hours on occasions, should this occur advance notice will be provided.

There will be occasional travel, with overnight stays as part of this role.

Interviews are likely to be held from 30th July 2024.

This interview will be conducted via a video interview, details of which will be provided to you should you be selected for interview.
