One of DCTT’s School’s, The Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering (DSEME), plays a key role in delivering world-class technical training to soldiers and aviators across a variety of engineering disciplines. Currently based at MOD St Athan, DSEME’s sub-school, No 4 School of Technical Training (4SoTT) will be relocating to MOD Lyneham over the coming months, which presents an exciting opportunity to join the Royal Air Force 4SoTT.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. 

Job description

As the Training Squadron Admin Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to the 3 trade Flights (Mechanical, Electrical and Workshops) as follows:

  • Maintaining sufficient stocks of all stationery and consumables by submitting timely and adequate orders. 
  • Coordinating all incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Maintaining the electronic filing system and manual files. 
  • Assist the Administrative Officer with administrative support for Training Squadron including, consultation with the Training Manager and Instructional Cadre.
  • Production, Promulgation and Archiving of Information pack-ups, individual course student files. 
  • The compilation and maintenance of all training records and statistics for students and maintaining up to date information on course and nominal roles .
  • Carryout trainee arrival and clearance documentation procedures. 
  • Controlling the photocopier and other associated office equipment.
  • Booking in and escorting visitors to their destination and advising them of all Health and Safety aspects. 
  • Submitting and maintaining records of all works service requests by training squadron.

Alternative Working Patterns, in accordance with policy, can be considered where it can be accommodated by the business, but there may be occasions when a presence on site during standard working hours may be required. All working patterns and flexibilities are subject to agreement with the Line Manager.

Person specification

You must be well organised and proficient in time management. You will be required to be both proactive and reactive.
