The Role

We’re recruiting for Test Managers here at Justice Digital, to be part of our warm and collaborative End User Compute Services (EUCS)  team.

The EUCS team is part of Technology Services in Justice Digital, a modern and diverse workplace that promotes a healthy work-life balance and flexible working options.  They design, deliver and support the core infrastructure and systems that enable End User Compute Services and line of business applications for over 100,000 Ministry of Justice users across over 800 locations.

The Test Manager role has responsibility for the quality assurance and testing strategy and leads on its implementation to ensure all EUC services are fit for purpose and allow MoJ staff to undertake their operational duties effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain robust quality assurance and test strategies for all products and services within the agreed service area.

  • Oversee the design, execution and reporting of tests that reflect all agreed business operational scenarios.

  • Work with Service Owners and Product Leads to develop and implement an effective test strategy as part of EUC service life cycle management.

  • Develop strong relationships with technical and non-technical colleagues across the MoJ to promote and advocate for the testing capabilities.

  • Provide an effective testing resource as part of problem investigations, to ensure patterns and trends are identified and solutions are quickly identified.

  • Leverage automation techniques where appropriate and implement modern testing approaches.

  • Nurture a quality, risk aware culture and inspire, mentor, coach and manage Test Engineers and QAT analysts.

Person Specification

Essential

  • You can analyse changes to the development of products and services, and run and manage appropriate tests to ensure that requirements have been fully met.

  • Ability to design and execute a wide range of testing techniques and communicate test results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • You can understand and identify the most effective techniques, data sets and tools to use. You can present defects or trends clearly to all stakeholders, outlining how defects are identified and the possible causes.

  • You can use and coach others in a range of contemporary technologies and stay abreast of industry developments to make cost-effective use of new and emerging tools and technologies.

  • You have good knowledge of relevant professional standards and practices, which may include architecture, continuous integration, automation and deployment, coding or scripting languages.

  • You can visualise and articulate complex problems and concepts and make disciplined decisions based on available information.

  • You can use data to formulate both short-term and long-term strategic plans and identify and analyse options and assess feasibility and operational impact.

  • You can ensure that the business solution aligns with the vision, mission, objectives, strategy, business and user needs.

  • A proactive attitude towards documenting software, business processes and incidents and see automated tests as living documentation.
