Job description

The Cabinet Office is on a journey to take our data and analytics platform to the next level. We are seeking a technical leader with a team first attitude who believes in quality at every stage of the delivery cycle. Your team will be delivering our target vision through incremental delivery to business units.

You will:

  • Set the long term direction of how we develop our cross cabinet office data sharing and analytics platform 
  • collaborate with technical architects, delivery managers, and product owners to provide robust, resilient and scalable platforms
  • train and mentor other staff, building capability and capacity across the organisation 
  • Represent Co Digital in cross government forums as required by the role setting an example for and encouraging positive and constructive communication both within the team and when communicating with other teams

Person specification

Essential Criteria

  • experience of architecture design for example data infrastructure, data models, enterprise data management, reusable technology components and reference
    architectures 
  • hands on experience with SQL, XML and data analytics tools such as Tableau 
  • hands on experience working on cloud hosted solutions in AWS, including S3, Glue, API Gateway, IAM, VPCs and Athena 
  • experience with Python, Pyspark and common web application architectures. 
  • working knowledge of different software delivery practices including agile delivery 
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to explain difficult concepts to anyone who needs to understand 
  • experience of building long term healthy stakeholder relationships 
  • experience working in a complex environment where you need to think on your feet and make important decisions as they need to be made 
  • you take responsibility for you and your team’s performance  

It’s desirable, but not essential, that you have: 

  • knowledge of AWS best practices 
  • knowledge of architecture or engineering framework, such as TOGAF, ITIL

Additional information

A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. Although requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.
