Do you meet the key eligibility criteria?

The National Border Targeting Centre (NBTC) is a multi-agency capability comprising Border Force, National Crime Agency (NCA), Police and Immigration Enforcement (IE) staff. The role includes analysis of travel, manifest and booking system data to identify people and/or commodities of interest travelling inbound and outbound of the UK. Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

•    Evaluating data from a wide variety of in-house and commercial intelligence sources.

•    Monitoring law enforcement systems and ensure the highest priority outputs are actioned in a timely manner.

•    Enhancing outputs using analytical tools, Home Office systems and travel data.

•    Issuing, storing, and recording intelligence alerts or referrals to operational partners.

•    Using law enforcement systems to enrich targeting activity.

•    Actively and positively participating in business or system change projects or strategic transformation as representatives of the NBTC.

•    Maintaining accurate and up-to-date operational activity records that inform both accurate reporting and future targeting responses, complying with all legal and assurance processes.

•    Chasing and recording feedback for targeting outputs by self and colleagues on team, and reporting positive feedback accurately.

•    Working collaboratively and effectively with relevant Multi-Agency units and other operational teams and partner agencies to ensure a de-conflicted response.

Please note this post is advertised with Annualised Hours Working (AHW) terms and conditions. You would no longer receive any other attendance-related allowances.

Essential criteria

You must be able to demonstrate:

•    Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

•    Strong IT skills including Microsoft Excel.

•    A proven track record to plan, organise and manage time to deliver the best quality and efficient service and work well under pressure.

•    Confidence engaging with and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partners internally and externally.

Desirable criteria

•    Experience of working with different types of data to identify trends, anomalies, leading to operational outcomes.

Annual Hours Working Allowance

We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. This role currently attracts Annualised Hours Allowance of 38.76%. This is to compensate for working shift patterns including night shifts, early morning starts, late night finishes, weekends and public holidays.  Shifts can vary in length and can be up to 12 hours. Shifts can be changed or extended according to business need. The rate payable is dependent on location and role and is indicative of the shift pattern you will be required to work.

The higher the AHA, the more flexible you will be required to be. Please note that the allowance is subject to regular review and can go down as well as up.

Age: These are shift working roles and so you must be at least 18 years or over to apply for this role. You will be required to work between 22.00 and 06.00, so this is a legal requirement. Part time working

We encourage applications from candidates who wish to work part-time however, unless specified in the advert, part-time opportunities cannot be guaranteed in frontline roles due to the 24/7 operational nature of the business. Tattoos, including henna

A non-offensive visible tattoo is permissible, as long as it is not on the face or on the front or side of the neck (above the collar line). Tattoos behind the ear lobe on the back of the neck are also acceptable within these policy guidelines. Flexible working is not an option

This role is not suitable for a combination of office and home-based working due to the requirements of the role. Successful candidates will be required to attend the office/other work location as specified in the advert at all times, to carry out this role.
