TR&D are part of the NCA's National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU) that deals with major cyber crime investigations. We also support the wider NCA and national and international law enforcement. TR&D are part of the NCA's National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU) that deals with major cyber crime investigations. We also support the wider NCA and national and international law enforcement. As a TR&D officer, you will use your skills and experience to use and develop tools and techniques to obtain, analyse and interpret data pivotal to investigations. TR&D are a dynamic team that provides technical support and creates bespoke technical solutions for NCCU/NCA investigation teams and UK and international law enforcement. 

We deploy in response to time-critical active criminal incidents in the UK and around the world. We analyse and interpret data to provide targeted intelligence and evidential packages, pivotal to investigations, to investigators, wider law-enforcement and government departments. Through training and vocational experience we develop specialised skill sets in order to become subject matter experts in cyber-related areas such as Digital Forensics, Network Forensics, Malware, Encryption, Obfuscation and Cryptocurrency. We work with UK and international partners in government, academia and industry to build relationships, develop techniques and define best practice. 

We participate in developing and implementing new digital forensic methods and operating procedures to continuously improve cyber investigation capabilities in order to keep pace with new and developing threats. Main Responsibilities:

  • Deploy in response to time-critical active criminal incidents in the UK and around the world.
  • Analyse and interpret data to provide targeted intelligence and evidential packages to investigation teams, wider law-enforcement and government departments. 
  • Develop specialised skill sets in order to become subject matter experts in cyber-related areas such as Malware, Encryption, Obfuscation and Cryptocurrencies.
  • Provide technical support and create bespoke technical solutions for NCCU/NCA investigation teams and UK and international law enforcement.
  • Work with UK and international partners in government, academia and industry to build relationships, develop techniques and define best practice.
  • Participate in developing and implementing new digital forensic methods and operating procedures.
  • Continuously improve cyber investigation capabilities in order to keep pace with new and developing threats.

Candidates successful at the sift stage will be invited to complete a technical assessment. Applicants will need to pass the Technical Assessment before being invited for an interview. Details will be provided to those successful at Sift. 

Interviews will take place throughout April and May 2024 - locations to be confirmed. Please be advised that the type of interview (eg. virtual/face-to-face) may be subject to change and successful candidates will be notified of this prior to attending.
