Job description

In these roles you will be responsible for supporting the implementation and in-life management of a new Contract Management System (CMS) to manage Passenger Service’s Rail Contracts. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring that our Contract Management / Market/ Train Operating Company (TOC) teams are able to successfully use the system and to provide ongoing support with their usage.

You will be the dedicated point of contact for users, and will deliver on project objectives and service level agreements (SLA) to ensure system updates are completed in a timely manner.

As one of our Systems Managers, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the planning and implementation of the new CMS.
  • Being trained within the Systems Team in the management of Jaggaer and delivering targeted training for the new system.
  • Coordinating testing of quarterly Jagger releases and working with Passenger Services and Jaggaer to resolves any issues.
  • Supporting the helpdesk function and leading on helpdesk requests which may require a change in systems configuration.
  • Working with other Systems Managers to ensure that configuration changes are coordinated and do not negatively impact other stakeholders who share the Jaggaer instance.
  • Ensuring adequate control of permissions and data in compliance with the Department’s Cyber Security Policy.
  • Ensuring timely updates are made to the system to ensure the smooth management and running of Rail Contracts.
  • Coordinating the management of the Jaggaer Continuous Improvement group in line with other Systems Managers.
  • Responding to evolving business needs by mapping processes, identifying technical solutions, developing scenarios, coordinating testing, developing training, and releasing new functions to meet business needs.
  • Working collaboratively to coordinate changes as recommended by Cabinet Office and Regulation reform requirements.

Person specification

About you

You will have previous experience of implementing a Source to Contract system and operating a service desk function to support system users.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills to confidently present to multiple teams and industry partners. You will be approachable, and comfortable delivering training sessions and ongoing support to system users.

You will have experience of collaborating with multiple partners and building positive relationships to deliver outcomes.

You will have excellent organisational skills to coordinate and manage conflicting priorities, and proactively identify and resolve technical issues.  

Additional Information 

A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace, although requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another DfT workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance. 

Occasional travel to other DfT offices will be required.

This post is offered on a Fixed Term Appointment (FTA) basis to complete a finite piece of work.

For permanent Civil Servants, this role is only available on loan, so you must have your home departments approval to return to them at the end of the loan before you apply. There is no opportunity for a permanent Civil Servant to take on this role as a fixed term appointment. OGD applicants will be appointed on an inward loan and subject to the terms of the agreed inward loan. Internal candidates will return to their previous post at the end of the loan period, which will need to be agreed with your line manager in advance.
