This role sits within the Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO) Enterprise Platform Services (EPS) Network Services Team. We have recently undergone a major transition to a Managed Service Provider and this role will be key in supporting its success.

The Team

The Team is responsible for the Service Management of core HMRC infrastructure including Wide Area Network, Legacy Data Centre, connectivity to Crown Hosting Data Centres, Office Local Area Network Infrastructure (including Wi-fi) and Office Cabling

Job description

The Role

As a Supplier Manager you will support the Managed Service Provider (MSP)/WAN Supplier Management Lead who is accountable for the delivery of Live Service to HMRC and be responsible for the operational governance of IT services delivered by the supplier, ensuring this delivery forms part of an end-to-end service consistent with the objectives and strategy of the HMRC Customer Groups.

You will be managing this contract in line with the Supplier Management Practice principles, standards, and processes along with external regulations such as GDPR.

You will work closely with commercial, strategic business partners, finance, security, service level management, delivery areas and service owners to provision timely and accurate reporting for supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities - Day to day you will:

  • Work as a trusted advisor to the supplier by providing advice & guidance when required.
  • Ensure the supplier delivers to expectations monitoring and driving the supplier to deliver against ITSM Process deliverables and all associated KPIs.
  • Identifying and managing risk
  • Review supplier performance reports to ensure the supplier delivers to expectations and challenge where appropriate.
  • Support Major Incident Management Process, utilising knowledge gained through your understanding of the environment and the service offerings the supplier delivers.
  • Carry out ITSM trend analysis to ensure supplier delivery is in line with agreed practises and highlight any failings to drive continual improvement.
  • Work closely with the wider Service Management team to ensure the successful delivery of the Network Service provided by the supplier.
  • Manage operational obligations.
  • Support the development of the Supplier Management Practice.

Essential criteria

You will need to demonstrate within your application the following essential experience.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships through times of challenging interaction to benefit the delivery of Network Services.
  • Analytical skills to identify and interpret trends and recommend continual improvement.
  • Good all-round communication and presentation skills to all levels of seniority including ability to create in non-technical language.
  • Influencing skills and a willingness to take ownership and responsibility of actions.
  • Willing to complete mandatory Contract Management training at Practitioner/ Expert level
  • Due to the nature of this role and access to secure information. The successful candidate must hold a valid SC clearance or have a willingness to undertake the process to obtain the relevant SC.

Desirable

  • A broad knowledge of the IT Services delivered within a Network Services environment and the ability to know when to intervene or escalate if this is not being delivered.
  • Experience of Service Now or similar delivery platforms.
  • Experience of Managing External Suppliers.
  • Confident user of MS Product set including Teams, Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • A strong background in creation of reports & review of documentation, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management and Risk Analysis.
  • Problem-solving skills when analysing issues and coordinating associated parties to a resolution.
  • Experience of ITIL4, preferably qualified to at least Foundation level.
