Job description

This is a challenging and high-profile post at the centre of the department’s Payment Systems and Financial Control (PSF) Directorate, which is part of the wider Finance Group. 

The role of a DWP Supplier Manager touches every part of the Department, including payments to DWP benefit customers, DWP staff and our suppliers, and underpins many DWP financial processes. 

The successful candidate will be posted to a role within the Shared Services Supplier Management Change Team (SSSMT) , which will also include Line Management responsibilities for a small team of HEO Supplier Managers.   

The successful candidate can expect to be involved in a range of the following activities: 

  • Supporting the management and delivery of a Change Management process, ensuring changes are progressed in line with the contracts, maintaining governance routes and accurate audit trails
  • Examining existing ways of working to identify future improvements. Sharing good practice to improve processes and customer service 
  • Continually monitor and develop Stakeholder relationships, including seeking and responding to feedback 
  • Representing the team in DWP, Supplier or Cross Government Forums
  • Providing general support to the wider team
  • Line management responsibilities.

The Successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria:

    • Recent experience of working on high profile work, business changes, or contract management, identifying risks and conflicting priorities, developing improvements and solutions (LEAD CRITERIA) 
    • Proven ability to build and maintain constructive stakeholder relationships, demonstrating sound interpersonal skills and a proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively, persuade and challenge with confidence 
    • Ability to gather, interpret and evaluate information and data, using a range of business tools. Utilising this information and data to influence groups of senior stakeholders enabling evidenced based decisions
    • Proven ability to work inclusively and collaboratively at pace, respond to changing demands and manage competing priorities to meet challenging deadlines
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to get to the heart of issues and challenges and communicate succinctly to a range of audiences, including senior colleagues
    • Strong organisational skills with proven ability, resilience, and flexibility to work at pace both independently and leading through others to deliver against multiple competing priorities.

    Hybrid Working

    This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home.

    This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangements and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account.

    If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
