Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic team player to apply for the Storekeeper post based in a Logistics and Engineering Squadron.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Strategic Command is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to improve the way the Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, all posts within Strategic Command Headquarters and in time the wider organisation, are/will be subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. Job description

The Primary function of the stores accountant will be the responsibility of managing a dynamic AinU and reporting to the Accounts SNCO for all returns and specified checks. This role is crucial; ensuring equipment is accounted for and serviceable to effectively support operations.

  • Responsible for unit level control and coordination of the stores assets on MJDI, complying to Defence Logistics Framework (DLF) Policy.
  • Build and maintain a thorough knowledge of all equipment held, act as a focal point for guidance and advice regarding the storage, packing, handling and accounting for stores equipment.
  • Account for equipment on specified accounts, including items signed out for training, loans and repairs.
  • Ensure all newly delivered equipment is processed appropriately and according to QM guidelines.
  • Load and unload stores equipment from vehicles.
  • Occasionally work outside of his/ her normal daily routine in support of exercise deployments and returns.
  • Carry out miscellaneous tasks as directed by their line manager.
  • Assist in the maintaining of a safe working environment and be conversant with standing orders along with other specified guidelines.

Person specification

Essential:

  • Computer literate (Word/ Excel).
  • Sound numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Good communication skills.


Desirable:

  • Basic understanding of stores and management procedures including accounting.
