What you’ll be doing

As Social Media Assistant you will play a vital role in managing our social media presence and supporting our communication efforts. Reporting to the Communications and Marketing Manager, you'll have the opportunity to utilise your skills in generating engaging content and analysing data to drive our communication strategies forward.

In this role, you will be responsible for creating and scheduling high-quality content across various social media platforms in alignment with CCW’s social media strategy and brand guidelines. You will independently produce low-risk social media content, taking into account reputational risks, and analyse social media metrics to provide insights for future campaigns and strategies.

It is expected that you stay updated with the evolving social media landscape and adapt strategies accordingly. Additionally, you will manage essential resources for communication efforts and evaluate CCW's communication activities' effectiveness. You will efficiently run our social media channels and assist colleagues in effectively utilising social media. Equipped with tools such as a phone, laptop with relevant programs, and the ability to use a camera for podcast creation, you will also engage with experts and managers from other companies to foster collaboration.

Job description

Key Duties & Accountabilities:

Social media:

  • Create and schedule high-quality content for our social media channels eg Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) in line with CCW’s social media strategy and brand guidelines.
  • After appropriate training, be responsible for producing general low-risk social media content without oversight. Understand reputational risk and judge when to ask for editorial guidance when posting/responding on social media channels.
  • Gather and interpret social media statistics and data on the algorithms for various channels – engagement, reach and impressions – using our social media management system, Orlo, and Facebook Ad Centre
  • Report on key metrics and insights using eg Excel and make recommendations to communications team and CCW management to inform future campaigns and strategies.
  • Keep up with a constantly changing social media landscape and adapt approaches accordingly.
  • Schedule and publish content consistently, ensuring optimal timing and platform-specific best practices.
  • Identify and engage with key influencers and stakeholders online to foster positive relationships with our online communities and partner organisations.
  • Engage with followers, respond to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner, assist with the development and implementation of social media campaigns, including research, content creation and performance evaluation
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends and best practices, actively seeking opportunities to improve CCW’s online presence
  • Follow CCW’s social media strategy and guidelines to ensure our online activity meets our organisational objectives, protects and promotes our reputation and builds our brand externally
  • Be a social media champion within the organisation - ensuring other members of CCW are following social media guidelines and feel empowered to engage with CCW via social media

 

 

General communications:

  • Under the guidance of the wider communications team, support them with wider communication activities as required eg:
    • writing press releases
    • writing internal communications materials
    • producing PR features
    • producing podcasts
    • attending or hosting events
    • producing newsletters
    • responding to stakeholder enquiries
  • Support CCW’s commitment to the Welsh language by identifying opportunities for translation.
  • Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work. Support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

Management of Resources:

Financial Resources

  • The post-holder will manage relationships with external suppliers and agencies, procuring, commissioning and briefing specialist support

for multiple projects and monitoring ongoing campaign spend against the budget, keeping accurate records.

  • They will be expected to measure and evaluate communications activity to demonstrate maximum impact and ROI.

Human Resources 

  • The post-holder will not be responsible for the direct management of staff.
  • The post-holder will be required to manage CCW’s social media channels.
  • The post-holder will use their expertise and experience to educate, advise and guide colleagues across the organisation on the best use of social media to achieve CCW’s goals.

Equipment

  • The post-holder will be provided with a mobile phone and a laptop containing the necessary programmes. The communications team has a camera and equipment for producing podcasts.

Contacts and Communication:

External

  • The post-holder will have contact with specialists and middle managers at external organisations in order to effectively communicate CCW’s campaign messages and deliver impactful events.

Internal

  • The post-holder will work closely with CCW communications colleagues and members of other functions within CCW.

 

Person specification

Essential

Experience of using a variety of platforms to generate engaging content.

Proficient in data analysis and reporting tools, with a basic understanding of social media analytics.In-depth knowledge of social media management tools e.g. Orlo, Hootsuite, Sprout Social.

·         High level of computer literacy and the ability to pick up new and complex systems quickly.

·         Experience of video/audio/editing/graphic design.

·         Experience of Working with MS Excel to enter statistics and present data with accuracy.

·         Knowledge of accessibility guidelines for social media.

·         Understanding of data analysis and reporting tools.

·         Good judgement regarding the potential reputational risks around using social media.

·         Ability to research and explain new ideas/material to colleagues.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content for different             audiences.

·         Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.

 

·         Creative, innovative and resourceful - ability to keep up with a constantly changing social media landscape and to adapt approaches accordingly.

·         An ability to tell compelling stories.

·         Organised and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
