Job summary

Joint Helicopter Command (JHC) HQ delivers aviation advice to formulate Military Strategy. Responsible for force preparation and generation to meet permanent and responsive tasks across the globe in accordance with Defence policy. 

We are recruiting for an Information Support Manager (ISM)to lead the Information Management (IM) Team and drive forward standard methodology. The successful candidate will have experience working within IM at a managerial level and developing cultures & practices across a varied workforce to exploit information. The ISM will be the lead on designing and delivering improved information management and exploitation processes.

The position is advertised at 37 hours per week. 

Job description

The ISM Role is accountable for the delivery of accurate and timely information management solutions to the HQ that is in line with legislation and MOD policy, whilst ensuring value for money is achieved. As the ISM you will have line management responsibility for a small team of three other civil servants based at JHC HQ who the post holder will regularly interact with and proactively lead to ensure iHub outputs are complete and user expectations are handled effectively. 

They will have overall responsibility for the management of all Command iHub functions. The role includes supporting the assurance of IT matters across HQ and the providing of advice to promote a consistent and coherent approach to ways of working to improve the user experience and provide architecture that optimises JHC outputs. The post gives the opportunity for a daring and motivated candidate to carve out a multifaceted role advising the HQ on how best to exploit and utilise IT.

Key responsibilities include.  

Main Job Roles: 

a. Line management of 2 x SO3 posts, and 1 x ISA AO post in the JHC iHub. 

b. Act as the SME for IM for the JHC. 

c. Implementing and maintaining JHC IM Policy within the Command. 

d. Maintain and update the IM Directive and Business Continuity Plan. 

e. Production of the JHC IM/Information Exploitation (IX) annual plan. 

f. Develop an operational and non-operational IX culture and practices, building on IM capabilities. 

g. Oversee IT management procedures and allocation of JHC assets. 

h. Production and deliverance of IM/IX training and briefings for the HQ. 

i. Responsible for all iHub outputs. 

J. Act as the Data Protection Officer for JHC HQ.
