About the job

Job summary

Technology and data have always been at the heart of the SFO’s business. As part of a wider modernisation programme, we are implementing a whole new approach to HR and Finance with the introduction of Oracle’s Fusion ERP system. The implementation will support all areas of the organisation including the Corporate Services specialists and approximately 750 users.

The Service Owner will be joining the journey at an exciting stage of the project, able to play a key part in informing and shaping the Business as Usual service, promoting user adoption, designing appropriate governance controls, and ensuring that future development meets the SFO’s user needs and regulatory requirements.

If you are a talented individual looking to launch your Service Ownership journey, or a seasoned professional looking for variety rather than scale, this may be just the role for you. While we value technical capability within SaaS and cloud based technologies, we value more the ability to solve problems, focus on user needs, and engage with all levels of the organisation. We are looking for an individual capable of taking a new service from MVP to steady state BAU, then onwards towards solving the whole problem for our users by prioritising the Should and Could Haves through continuous improvement.

Job description

As a Service Owner, you will be responsible for:

  • Accountability for delivering an always on, reliable ERP service;
  • Management of the SaaS contract and the supplier (Oracle);
  • Maintenance the SFO’s ERP environments. Planning and delivering routine maintenance to the service including the roll out of monthly maintenance packs, quarterly Fusion updates, and environment refreshes and resizing as required;
  • Establishing strong working relationships with internal stakeholders including senior management to ensure that the ERP implementation is adopted by the users and realises its potential and benefits;
  • Maintaining a clear roadmap for the development of the ERP products, prioritising new features in line with industry best practice, users’ and corporate needs

Things you need to know

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Behaviours and Experience.

Application stage

As part of the application process you will be required to provide:

  • A personal statement of no more than 750 words that explains how your skills and experience meet each of the essential experience criteria as listed in the job pack, and what you can bring to the role.
  • A supporting CV outlining your career history.

It will not be possible to provide feedback to applicants who are unsuccessful at the application stage.

Interview stage

Behaviours and experience as outlined in the Job Pack will be tested at interview.

Full details of the interview process will be made available to shortlisted candidates in the invite to interview.

Sift to take place from 29th February 2024.

Interviews are expected to take place w/c 11th March 2024.

All dates are indicative and subject to change.

This is a fixed-term appointment for 12 months with a possibility of extension (subject to business need).

For permanent civil servants joining the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) on a Fixed-term Appointment:

Please note if you accept a Fixed-term Appointment with the SFO the preferred option is for you to transfer from your home department on a loan basis to ensure you can return to your home department at the end of the Fixed-term Appointment. Exceptionally, if a transfer on a loan basis cannot be agreed by your home department, you would transfer to the SFO on the basis that you would lose your permanent Civil Service status but retain your continuity of employment. However, if you face a redundancy situation at the end of the Fixed-term Appointment you will be treated as a permanent civil servant for redundancy and redeployment purposes only. You must have two years’ service to be eligible for redundancy benefits under the Civil Service Compensation Scheme.

Therefore you should be aware that when your Fixed-term Appointment at the SFO comes to an end, your employment in the Civil Service will end, unless:

  • an extension to your Fixed-term Appointment has been agreed by the SFO.
  • a conversion to permanent status has been agreed by the SFO.
  • you are successfully redeployed into a suitable alternative post
  • you secure another Civil Service post through a recruitment process.

Feedback will only be provided if you attend an interview or assessment.
