We’re looking for an exceptional Service Delivery Manager to help us make a difference to our planet. This is a generic campaign that we anticipate holding a reserve list as a result of, although we do have a vacancy in our Warnings and Guidance area of WIA which we are primarily looking to fill.

This will be a new and exciting role working between our newly formed Expert Weather Hub and Hazards squad.

As our Service Delivery Manager you will work a hybrid pattern and will be on site at Exeter HQ. Although nominally roles will be Exeter based, other locations will be considered in line with Services Remote Working guidelines. You can choose to work more frequently in our state-of-the-art office if you'd prefer.

As our Service Delivery Manager, your starting salary will be £38838.00 and you will have opportunities to progress to £42434.00 over time. New joiners to the Met Office will start on the salary band minimum. Our 2022-25 pay award means the salary will increase to £41725.00 from 1st April 2024, and you will be able to progress towards £45257.00 over time.

Your total reward package is potentially worth up to £53,757 annually, which includes basic salary, potential corporate bonus and employer pension contributions.

Job description

Job Purpose:

As our Service Delivery Manager, your key responsibilities are:

  • Being responsible for the set up and production of all customer services and managing the day-to-day delivery of services to customers to meet business, compliance and timeliness requirements. This will include ensuring all appropriate documentation surrounding your designated services is provided and maintained.
  • Being responsible for the overall quality of output from the meteorologists and implementing remedial actions to ensure a high standard of customer service is maintained.
  • Contribute to the management of service incidents and problems when required, and implementing, executing and maintaining appropriate business continuity measures and documentation.
  • Collaborating with cross-office teams and customers to identify, develop and/or improve services and manage the implementation into the operational environment. This will include realising efficiencies balanced against quality standards and where possible reducing production costs.
  • Building and maintaining excellent customer relationships and representing Services and the Met Office at customer meetings, internally and externally. Ability to demonstrate our production capabilities to increase knowledge and understanding and to manage expectations.
  • Assisting Senior Managers in implementing policy and corporate initiatives and acting as a role model for our brand values. Acting to support, manage and implement change in WIA, Services and the wider Met Office.

Dependent on which area you work, you may be required to undertake line management responsibilities.

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Demonstrate through strong leadership skills excellent customer service focus, particularly with regards to the management of incidents and customer feedback.
  2. We live and breathe it - Evidence of excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a high workload and conflicting priorities, whilst ensuring excellent customer service delivery is maintained.
  3. We’re experts by nature - Display a sound knowledge of weather impacts and meteorological services.
