Location: Polaris House, Swindon. (We operate a hybrid approach therefore you can expect a mix of working from home and in the office. You will be expected to be onsite in the office at least once a fortnight.)

As a Senior Web Content Designer in the web team, your role is to design, create, review, develop and update web page content on ukri.org. You will drive forward the continuous improvement of web content working with subject matter experts from across the organisation.

We are looking for someone who has specific experience as a content designer so please only apply if you have a previous content design position on your CV. This role is not relevant to graphic designers, web designers, web developers or web content managers.

Job description

You’ll be an expert practitioner who develops content strategies and solutions. You will be part of the multidisciplinary web team working on the UKRI corporate website making it simpler and easier for people to understand and use. 
 
The website has thousands of pages with the content and structure continuously evolving and improving. This role can involve working on a single piece of web copy or on an entire end-to-end journey through the site and to other services to help users complete their goal and deliver UKRI objectives

Person specification

  • Preferably hold a degree in a related subject or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience in a web content design role making strategic decisions about web content creation preferably on a large, complex information rich website
  • Robust experience in writing, editing and publishing digital content, and using content management systems and content production processes to publish content
  • Exemplary editorial skills with the ability to write in plain and accessible language and simplify complex language in a way that users understand 
  • A deep understanding of web content design on an end-to-end user journey considering the structure and user experience
