Job summary

Are you ready for a new challenge in IT and Digital Services? Do you want to be part of shaping the digital landscape, driving forward innovation and change? If so, we are looking for you to join our team at a very exciting time, as we become the Commission for Tertiary Education and Research (CTER), the new arm’s length body responsible for overseeing and funding post-16 education and research in Wales.

As we prepare for CTER to become operational from April 2024, we are keen to expand the IT and Digital Services Team so that CTER has established technical services to support the organisation from day one.

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Solutions Developer who will play a crucial role in developing business critical solutions to support CTER’s statutory and regulatory obligations.

Job description

Working with your Head of Team, you will be responsible for the design, creation, development, maintenance, and correct functioning of systems and solutions required to meet specific business needs. You will ensure that all developments meet or exceed the latest security requirements.

Person specification

You will have excellent technical and organisational skills, be capable of building effective working relationships with colleagues throughout the organisation and externally, act with integrity and sensitivity, and display strong judgement and problem solving abilities.

You will need to be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an ICT system design related subject, and will likely have additional technical qualifications with experience in a development role. You will be a team player, with the ability to work on your own initiative, prioritise tasks effectively, and set a balance between various competing requirements.

You will have an attitude that puts information security at the forefront of your mind in everything you do.

Benefits

Alongside your salary of £45,256, Higher Education Funding Council for Wales contributes £12,219 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Find out what benefits a Civil Service Pension provides.
