We now have an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced Senior Sharepoint Engineer to join the team. This role will focus mainly on 3rd-line support while also providing expertise in managing their SQL estate, SharePoint estate, Azure Cloud Services and identity management. 

You’ll design, run and improve software that is tailored to user needs and follow a test-driven approach to write clean, secure code that is open by default and easy for others to use. One of your early priorities will be to support and then convert SharePoint 2010/2013 solutions to Power Apps and Flow applications, so proven experience is using Microsoft Power Platform (Power App and Power Automate) is essential. 
 
You’ll be comfortable using a range of Microsoft tools such as SharePoint 2013 and Online, Power Apps, and Power Automate. Your knowledge of SharePoint applications should include: 

  • Assistance in the migration of SharePoint 2013 + The Wire to the Cloud. 
  • Interfacing with FSP in the building of Wire 2.0 and adding some of the components required including the migration of the historic videos. 
  • Creation of new SharePoint 365 sites. 
  • Training of users in adapting to the new technology and creating the sites and customising of these to suit the requirements of the departments. 
  • Introduced new methodologies and designed Lists to display important strategic data stacks from existing Excel Spreadsheets and other data sources. 
  • Technical support of SharePoint 2013 – 365 – Azure – PowerShell scripting. 
  • Design consulting in SharePoint technologies and applications. 

You should have previous experience of working in an agile environment, and your technical know-how should be complemented by good all-round communication skills and an understanding of how to collaborate well with others. Curious by nature, you’ll want to understand how your work can influence wider organisational objectives and that your contribution adds value.

Key Responsibilities 

The Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer will play a critical part in supporting (run) and developing (change) Ofgem Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps & Power Automate), Share Point Online and Microsoft Teams, support new services and the migration of existing service to the Microsoft 365. Working in a team of specialists and engineers, the Microsoft 365 Developer Engineer builds, administers, supports and maintains solutions as directed and according to departmental policy. At this level, you will: 

  • Ensure services are integrated, delivered and operated as required by Developing modern, cloud-based applications using Power Apps and Power Automate. 
  • Support business process automation, Power Platform technologies.  
  • Develop SharePoint Online solutions including SharePoint home sites, hub sites and Modern SharePoint sites. Move Ofgem away from SharePoint 2013. 
  • Training of users in adapting to the new technology and creating the sites and customising of these to suit the requirements of the departments. 
  • Introduce new methodologies and designed Lists to display important strategic data stacks from existing Excel Spreadsheets and other data sources. 
  • Working with Microsoft Teams planning, governance, and adoption. 
  • work with technical architects to translate architectural designs into operations. 
  • As a software developer you are responsible for designing, running and improving software that meets user needs. You are responsible for writing clean, secure code following a test-driven approach. You create code that is open by default and easy for others to reuse. 
  • Design consulting in SharePoint technologies and applications. 

Key Outputs and Deliverables 

  • Work within Digital Services to design, implement, and develop SharePoint Online and Power Platform service models ensuring that administration and governance best practices are followed. 
  • Provide technical implementations and solutions to support Ofgem to complete the final stages of moving from SharePoint 2013 to SharePoint Online, ensuring that colleagues working across the organisation can migrate content into a well-developed technical architecture. 
  • Provide technical administration for the SharePoint Online and Power Platform services ensuring end user access is automatable, auditable, and manageable. 
  • Plan and manage all technical elements of the PowerPlatform service including user access, licences, capacity, connectors, environment strategy, Dataverse and DLP policies to ensure a sustainable service model is developed. 
  • Contribute to the creation of a Power Platform centre of excellence, contributing best practice advice and working to create a sustainable user training model. 
  •  Provide documentation and resources to colleagues across Information Services, ensuring that all services are fully supported, and end users have access to appropriate technical support and information. 

Essential Criteria

  • Extensive experience as a Microsoft 365 Developer Engineer using Microsoft 365 Services and Microsoft Power Platform. (Lead criteria)  
  • Capable of delivering projects using a range of Microsoft tools, including SharePoint 2013, Power Apps, Flow, and Teams. 
  • Management of SharePoint site collection functions, search configuration and supporting the Site Owner and teams. 
  • Experience in the administration of SharePoint Online, Teams and OneDrive. 
  • Microsoft 365 Governance and Security experience. 

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in creating & delivering solution in Power BI. 
  • Experienced with training in Office 365 / Power Platform and capabilities across a team/organisation.
