Job summary

Homes England is looking for an experienced Senior Service Designer to help us design services that provide the best possible experience for our users while enabling the agency to achieve its aims. We’re looking for people who are passionate about fixing the housing market and making government work better for users. 

You would provide a pivotal role supporting our agile multi-disciplinary teams to use insights provided by user research to shape our digital products as part of multi channel services, putting the users at the heart of what we do.  Together, we'll transform the way that Homes England provides services to our colleagues, partners, and other end users.

Job description

Key responsibilities

⦁ To work in or across multiple multi-disciplinary service teams to design and to end services, ensuring they contribute to the wider organisational objectives and strategic priorities

⦁ To use evidence to challenge assumptions, negotiate with senior stakeholders and rationalise design decisions

⦁ To set the strategic direction of multiple complex services

⦁ To design collaboratively and in the open, engaging all relevant stakeholders in the design process

Person specification

With a design related degree or comparable knowledge gained through working in the design profession, you will have experience designing effective end to end services with complex and interdependent user journeys. 

You will have experience of working at pace in agile multidisciplinary teams 

You will have the ability to explain sophisticated design ideas and concepts to specialists and non-specialists, using sketches and prototypes of design ideas, and be able to communicate effectively and negotiate with senior decision makers.

You will have experience of working with user researchers and the ability to understand and utilise user research to inform design.

You will have experience of  leading design workshops with colleagues from multiple disciplines and levels of seniority

You will be able to use design to reduce complexities in existing services, and when creating new ones
