You’ll join HMGCC in leading a new in-house Uniformed Security Team upholding physical security controls and processes dedicated to the protection and development of National Security Engineering.

Make no mistake this is no ordinary Security Guard job!  

Your leadership skills and responsible attitude will support a high quality guard force, focusing on providing excellent customer service for staff and visitors whilst maintaining the security of the site and buildings.

Your positive, can-do approach will ensure your team are trained proficiently and delivering a consistent and professional service to key stakeholders.

Your attention to detail will be important when monitoring security systems such as CCTV and AACS (Automated Access Control System) and identifying concerns. You’ll also be responsible for managing appropriate responses to security incidents and demonstrating a calm and professional approach.   

More About You

To apply for this role, you will already have:

  • Proven experience managing requests from stakeholders across all levels.
  • Excellent communication & Organisational skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to manage patrols across site and respond to incidents quickly
  • You will need a good standard of English, ideally have a GCSE in English Language grade 4 or above and be confident in using Microsoft Word & Excel

To strengthen your application, it would be beneficial if you also have:

  • Experience handling challenging situations.
  • Proven Security Officer/Team Leader experience.
  • CCTV and AACS (Automated Access Control System) experience.
  • Experience managing shift rotas.

Job description

Using your diverse range of skills within the Physical Security Team you will:

  • Perform the Line Manager role for a team of security officers.
  • Over-see day-to-day duties of the team.
  • Lead training opportunities for the team.
  • Be responsible for the physical security of HMGCC staff, visitors and its assets.
  • Prevent unauthorised access to site in accordance with current policy.
  • Conduct Receptionist duties, welcoming and booking in our visitors to site.
  • Conduct site and building patrols and security checks.
  • Monitor and operate CCTV and AACS systems.
  • Conduct security checks using airport style X-ray equipment.
  • Respond to system alarms and incidents.
  • Conduct vehicle, staff and visitor searches.

ou will be the type of person who:

  • Enjoys being part of a wider team in encouraging, mentoring other team members.
  • Is Able to lead and manage a team of security officers.
  • Is comfortable having difficult conversations
  • Can be proactive and use your intuition for problem solving.
  • Is able to work on a shift pattern including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Can communicate information across many stakeholders quickly and succinctly.
  • Can adapt to change within an organisation/team.
  • Is flexible in ways of working.
  • Is open minded, be able to see it’s not always black and white and there is an element of grey areas encouraging creative solutions.
