Job description

What you'll do

  • You will:
    ● Lead day-to-day operation of the cyber security team’s internal infrastructure, identifying and remediating operational issues.
    ● Lead the implementation of resilient and highly-available systems to support cyber security operations.
    ● Work closely with the Cyber Defence team to rapidly develop capabilities that support the investigation of and response to cyber security incidents.
    ● Use automation to improve operational efficiency and deliver consistency infrastructure.
  • ● Create and quality assure operational documentation.
    ● Work across Cabinet Office business units to support the implementation of security infrastructure that enables cyber operations, sharing knowledge and expertise for the benefit of the Cabinet Office.

Person specification

It's essential that you have:

● A proven record of building and maintaining services in AWS including Kinesis, Lambda, EC2 and native security tools.
● Experience building, maintaining and operating cloud services using Infrastructure such  as Code.
● An excellent understanding of DevSecOps principles and how these can be applied in practice.
● Hands-on demonstrable experience of AWS, Terraform, Python and Github.
● Experience of developing CI/CD pipelines.
● Experience of working in an Agile environment.
● A systematic and structured approach to solving problems.
● The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
● Good leadership and management skills with experience in mentoring and developing engineering professionals.

It’s desirable, but not essential, that you have:

● Hands on user experience of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools.
● Experience building and maintaining log shipping pipelines to a SIEM or similar monitoring system.

A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. Although requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.
