About the job

Job summary

This post is a pivotal role within Homes England's Risk Team. Operating as a part of the 2nd Line within the three-line risk governance model, the role is focused on enhancing and implementing efficient cross-organisational risk engagement by establishing collaborative assistance with delivery colleagues across the Agency.

Job description

The incumbent will be a key member of the Enterprise and Operational Risk Team, contributing to the Risk Team Function's objectives.

The Senior Risk Reporting Manager reports directly to the Head of Risk Framework and plays a crucial role in shaping and implementing risk reporting strategies. The successful candidate will demonstrate current practical experience in reporting and data management within an established enterprise risk environment.

This post is subject to a ‘matrix management’ arrangement. The post holder may be required to work flexibly across the 2nd Line Risk Team as part of a cross-functional reporting and project delivery structure. They will have a dedicated Line Manager responsible who manages resources and performance management.

The post may be subject to change in terms of role placement within the 2nd Line function or across the wider organisation. The post holder will be expected to attend occasional meetings at other offices; and this may include an expensed overnight stay.

Person specification

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of risk management principles, methodologies and frameworks, including the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks effectively. They will also need to demonstrate proficiency in data collection, analysis and interpretation, with the ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets. The candidate will be expected to quickly demonstrate proficiency in the use of data analysis tools, software (such as Power BI, DAX, APIs and the DataVerse) and quickly assimilate an understanding of our internal risk management software (CoreStream) to efficiently manage and present risk data. A meticulous approach to data accuracy, report creation, and risk assessment to ensure the quality of risk reporting outputs will be expected.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are a pre-requisite, as we need to convey risk information clearly and concisely to various stakeholders, including senior management. The ability to align risk reporting strategy with the organisation's broader goals and objectives and to anticipate potential risks that could impact these objectives is required to support the previous key requirements.

Other key requirements include: strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including the ability to bridge the gap between risk management and operational teams; the capacity to adapt to changing risk landscapes, regulatory environments, and business priorities, and to adjust risk reporting strategies accordingly; a strong aptitude for identifying emerging risks, analysing root causes, and developing proactive solutions and mitigation strategies.
