If so, come and join us as a Senior Product Owner in the Network Security team. 

As a Senior Product Owner- Network Security, you will play a key role coordinating the people, processes, and technologies that secure DWP’s network estate.

We’re looking for a driven and passionate team player with a strong understanding of IT and Cyber security principles to help defend against cyber threats.    

The successful candidate will bring a well organised and detail-orientated approach to the team.  With a can-do attitude you will work closely with our colleagues from across network services and the wider cyber security community.  

You will pro-actively manage the initiatives that support continuous security posture across DWP networks.

Job description

  • Coordination, management and reporting of the Network Security workflow pipeline.
  • Support our continuous network infrastructure common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVE) management processes.
  • Liaise with both internal and external suppliers to aid the delivery of IT health checks, security audits and penetration tests.  
  • Support our risk assessors to ensure network related risks are correctly recorded, tracked and actioned throughout their lifecycle.
  • Assist in the measurement and reporting of network infrastructure configuration posture and adherence to best practice.
  • Support the development of our security incident playbooks.

Person specification

To meet the requirements for this role, you should provide supporting information in your application demonstrating how your experience meets the following Essential Criteria:

  • Significant experience working in an enterprise IT department.
  • Good foundational understanding of modern enterprise networking concepts and technologies.
  • Good Understanding of zero trust security concepts and defence in depth strategies.
  • Good Understanding of any cyber security frameworks, for example NIST CSF, NCSC CAF or CIS Critical Security Controls.
  • Professional qualification or equivalent experience relating to network security, cyber security, networking, ITSM or project management.
  • Any experience using Splunk, Jira, ServiceNow or SIEM tools.

Salary Information

Pay for this role is from £52,412 to £63,517.

The maximum salary for the grade is £63,517, however a Digital Allowance of up to £9,636 per annum is available for exceptional candidates, based on our assessment of your skills and experience.

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Location

Applicants should apply for suitable posts where they can travel to and from their home office location daily within a reasonable time.   

Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. Relocation costs will not be reimbursed 

Hybrid Working

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home.  This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
