Job summary

Rail safety, strategy & policy team delivers a range of policy, regulatory and corporate functions as well as providing strategic direction to RSD’s work through risk ranking and prioritisation, data analysis and business planning.

Job description

Within the Safety Policy and Corporate Support Team, you will apply your policy skills to a range of railway health and safety topics. You will develop policies and promote understanding of them within, and beyond ORR, producing high quality written material and sharing information widely. You will support ORR colleagues (including railway inspectors in the Railway Safety Directorate) by providing clear advice on the health and safety legal framework and ensuring that we continuously improve our published information.

​You will work with other safety regulators (including the Health and Safety Executive), government, railway industry organisations and develop your own external network of policy connections. This job contributes to achieving excellence in safety culture and management across the industry by developing railway health and safety policy.​
