Job summary

This role is based in the Operational unit of the Digital Knowledge & Information Management (DKIM) Team in the CDIO Data Pillar The DKIM team facilitates the delivery of Cabinet Office priorities and purpose through providing critical IM services and responsibility for: 

  • Digital document & records management systems;
  • Regular review  of  Information Management Policy, Guidance and Standards
  • Policy and compliance assurance monitoring and reporting.
  • The implementation of the Cabinet Office Information Management Framework.

Job description

You will demonstrate a good working knowledge of IM processes and be expected to work towards obtaining an appropriate, recognised qualification from a professional body. 

The successful candidate will support the Head of Unit and Head of DKIM on policy reviews and updates, updating and drafting staff guidance, leading the development of communications programmes across the department and working with training specialists on our staff training offer; 

This is a leadership role and you will need to be capable of getting the best out of the people in your team and delivery partners across the department to deliver our corporate objectives. The role also requires a critical mind, and you will be required to embed continuous improvement through analysis of management information and customer feedback to propose improvements to our services, identify issues affecting compliance and to propose effective interventions. You must be an effective communicator, orally and in writing and be able to enthusiastically act as an advocate for good information and records management.

Responsibilities

The post holder will lead the operational team as follows:

  • Provide operational support to CO Directorates and BU’s. 
  • Provide ad hoc support to the G6 and G7 
  • Processes and how information management processes link in thereto is essential 
  • A working knowledge / experience of Information and records management is essential. 
  • Experience / knowledge of IM compliance & assurance process is essential

Person specification

  • Ideally candidates should demonstrate a good working knowledge of information management processes, reviewing and drafting policy and be expected to work towards obtaining an appropriate qualification from recognised professional bodies.
  • Experience of working in IM roles in the public, private or third sector.
  • A proven working knowledge of working in Google 
  • Identify current and upcoming risks and issues in projects - articulate these and identify routes for resolution / mitigation
  • The post holder will need to draw on their previous experience to identify issues / problems and use appropriate decision-making mechanisms to make informed recommendations to G7.

Additional information:

A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. Although requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.
