Job summary

As Senior Business Manager to the Chief Property Officer, your primary focus will be to aid the acceleration of Housing and Regeneration in England.

Working in the Development directorate, you will ensure the directorate is run within budget, resourced with the right skills, in the right teams, to achieve our ambitious business plan targets and deliver upon the strategic objectives set within the Strategic Plan.

You will be responsible for dealing with a diverse range of activities including, people, risk, recruitment, communications, finance, and briefings. 

Working with the Chief Property Officer, managing their workload, liaising with the Senior Leadership Team and whole directorate, to communicate priorities, commission new requests and share key stakeholder insight which may affect current plans. 

You will play a critical role ensuring the business of the Development directorate operates smoothly and in line with policy, process, and governance.

In addition, you will also be responsible for co-ordinating and contributing to the delivery of several ongoing change projects which will influence and enable better ways of working to support how the Development Directorate contributes to the Agency's mission. 

Projects will often be cross-cutting in nature, the post holder will be required to take a proactive and collaborative approach across the Directorate, Agency, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and stakeholders across the housing industry.

Person specification

The Chief Property Office team’s principle aim is to ensure the Chief Property Officer and their SLT are prepared and ready to accelerate housing delivery. You will be a confident multitasker, able to move through tasks at pace and forward plan, innovating our ways of working. 

You will likely come from a business operations, Government private office or built environment background and are looking for a new challenge. 

Delivering on a mission as bold as ours is not easy. You will be resilient and comfortable managing stakeholders at a senior level and your discussions will always be shaped by a good level of emotional intelligence and empathy with an understanding of the commercial and operational impact of what we do as the Chief Property Office. You will enjoy working in an innovative, fun, and engaging way and be able to negotiate and persuade. 

You will understand the importance of people, how to efficiently manage and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative, equitable and inclusive way. Always demonstrating best practice as a wider leader, representing the Head of and Chief Development Officer in several forums.
