This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 10 years and obtain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you have been recruited for. If it isn’t obtained or is obtained with caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role, any conditional offer made to you will be withdrawn. Obtaining DV security clearance can be a lengthy process. You’ll join us once Security Check (SC) clearance is obtained, and then the more enhanced DV checks will continue after you’ve started your employment. If SC clearance isn’t obtained within 12 months, we reserve the right to withdraw any conditional offer made.

Seeking a rewarding career? Interested in Submarines? Join us in the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) as a Through Life Support Training Requirements Manager and help us design and procure vital capabilities for the Royal Navy.

You will be part of our Training Group within the Trident Systems Project Team, where you will manage and deliver the tools, parts, and in-service support, including the training of Royal Navy Personnel. You will also take charge of the training design development and delivery for a systems approach to training, identifying gaps and providing Training Needs Analysis reports.

You will lead a multi-disciplined team of civilian Training Designers, a Royal Navy Subject Matter Expert and work with government employees, contractors, and military from both the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US) with a common approach to training. You will coordinate various stakeholders and parties to deliver the Authority’s strategic intents and determine the most efficient means of delivering against the training requirements.

You will also have opportunities for regular and varied UK and International travel, visiting Naval Bases, military and training establishments, and industrial supplier’s premises.

We champion a balanced approach to work at the SDA. While regular in-person attendance is required for at least 3 days per week to foster the benefits of face-to-face collaboration, we also offer flexibility in hours to support a healthy work-life balance. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourself with the site, the team, and your role.

Successful applicants for this role may be eligible for a Trident Specialist Allowance (TSA) or Trident Chartership (TCA) if eligibility criteria are satisfied. TSA and TCA are non-contractual, non-consolidated, discretionary payments which may be withdrawn at any time.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and Innovate Training Solutions: Design and create innovative training solutions, incorporating new methods, media, and technologies to meet evolving role requirements.
  • Learning Management and Advisory: Operate and leverage Learning Management Systems (LMS) expertise to serve as a management advisor, analysing Trident Systems and producing comprehensive reports.
  • Courseware Management: Review and integrate suitable media into US-supplied courseware, manage documentation quality, and ensure compliance with Defence training guidelines.
  • Training Oversight and Compliance: Oversee the training pipeline, endorse Training Authority Documents, conduct Training Design Reviews, and align with the System Training and Professionalisation Evaluation Strategy.
  • Quality Assurance and Documentation: Act as the releasing authority for Trident System Training Documentation, endorse Statements of Training Tasks, and assist in developing quality processes and documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Advocate for and support innovations that enhance the quality and efficiency of System Training, ensuring continuous improvement, assurance, and governance.
  • Approach to Training: Take a Defence Systems Approach to Training, aligning with MOD guidelines.

 

Person specification

To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • A background of working in training analysis / design.
  • Experience of managing an integrated Learning Management System.
  • Experience in delivering continuous improvement activities.
  • Experience in delivering at pace to meet challenging project milestones in an international collaboration.
  • An understanding in both UK and US systems approach to development and design of training solutions.

In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competences and behaviours will be assessed at interview:
