Job description

We are looking for an Internal Digital Communications Officer to work with our communications and engagement team. This role involves engagement with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of the organisation and will play a pivotal part in the team’s continued success.

As our Internal Digital Communications Officer, you will support the management of our digital communications through the ongoing development of digital channels, assisting with content creation and writing engaging copy. You will also support stakeholders in shaping the content, tone, and mode of delivery of messages to their internal audiences, provide support to the internal communications business partners and assist with management of internal events.

With proven experience in working well with people at all levels, you will be confident in providing expert advice and guidance to the wider team, and to the wider business, on best practice in your specialist area. You will support senior colleagues in selection of the digital channels to maximise effectiveness, as well as line management of our communications apprentice.

At the SDA, we champion flexible ways of working. Regular in-person attendance is required to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration alongside flexibility of hours to support work-life balance. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team, and your role.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage a selection of the digital channels to maximise their effectiveness. Measure, track and optimise these channels usage, particularly through digital marketing campaigns.
  • Contribute to the delivery of effective digital communications plans in order to increase engagement of SDA stakeholders with the organisation's, purpose, mission, vision and achievements.
  • Review and design intranet content and structure.
  • Create and implement content and campaigns across digital channels.
  • Act as first point of contact for everyday enquiries around digital communications, escalating where appropriate.
  • Support the development of content for relevant digital channels, ensuring that the SDA brand, tone, and messages are conveyed consistently.
  • Evaluate and measuring the effectiveness of our digital channels.
  • Research emerging digital trends, contributing new ideas to senior colleagues.
  • Work with the in-house design team to implement creative content to support the delivery of the SDA communications strategy.
  • Develop positive relationships with stakeholders across the SDA.
  • Support stakeholders in shaping the content, tone, and mode of delivery of messages to their internal audiences.
  • Direct line management of our communications apprentice.

Person specification

To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Experience in developing and delivering digital communications.
  • Experience in writing and editing copy for a variety of audiences, across a variety of media channels.
  • Experience of digital channel management and development.
  • Evidence of stakeholder management across all levels.
  • Experience using Microsoft SharePoint modern.
  • Previous line management experience.
