Job summary

The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is a part of the Ministry of Defence responsible for the procurement, in-service support, and disposal of the UK’s nuclear submarines. This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you have been recruited for. If it isn’t obtained, or is obtained but with caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role, any conditional offer made to you will be withdrawn. Obtaining SC security clearance can be a lengthy process, and we reserve the right to withdraw any conditional offer made if the necessary security clearance isn’t obtained within 12 months.

The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our team in Bristol.

With advancements in technology and digital communications, almost every aspect of our daily lives relies on it. It has and continues to revolutionise our work within the SDA, with effective Information Assurance and Cyber Security delivering many opportunities and benefits - it has become a fundamental part of what we do. With the use of information and information technology comes significant risk and potential threats through the loss or compromise of our information, which would impact on the success of Defence as a whole.

As an Information Assurance Analyst, you will gain experience in multiple disciplines within Information Assurance, including:

  • Secure by Design
  • Cyber Supply Chain Assurance
  • NIST 800 Cyber Risk Management

It would be useful if you have an appreciation or understanding of information assurance, but this is not essential and can be learnt whilst in post, along with experience of working in a project team. There will be the potential for UK wide travel to other MoD sites as well as exciting opportunities to support international projects overseas.

If not already achieved, you will be expected to gain ISO/IEC27001 Information Security Management Foundation and NIST Cyber Security Professional (NCSP) Foundation Certificate, which we fund and provide you the support and guidance needed to help you achieve this.

At the SDA, we champion flexible ways of working. Regular in-person attendance is required to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration alongside flexibility of hours to support work-life balance. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team, and your role.

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide support to Information Assurance reviews, audits and security surveys both internally and externally with Industry Partners and present findings to your Associate Information Assurance Analyst.
  • Manage security administration of an IT system.
  • Support assurance of relevant controls on the implementation of any system or activity to ensure alignment with Information Assurance Policy and Standards.
  • Support the delivery of the accreditation/assurance activities within projects as directed.

Person specification

To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • You should have an appreciation or understanding of information assurance, along with experience of working in a project team.
  • Have a good understanding and experience in IT.
  • Experience working in compliance auditing background.

In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competences and behaviours will be assessed at interview:
