The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is a part of the Ministry of Defence responsible for the procurement, in-service support, and disposal of the UK’s nuclear submarines. This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you have been recruited for. If it isn’t obtained, or is obtained but with caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role, any conditional offer made to you will be withdrawn. Obtaining SC security clearance can be a lengthy process, and we reserve the right to withdraw any conditional offer made if the necessary security clearance isn’t obtained within 12 months.

Please note that there will be a requirement to travel to defence sites across the UK dependant on organisational requirements.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity within the Submarine Delivery Agency to join us as a Business Analyst. You will be working within the SSNA program (Ship Submersible Nuclear AUKUS(Australia United Kingdom United States)). You will be collaborating with key defence stakeholders, developing new ways of working and creating a sustainable and fluid data environment across the enterprise.

At the SDA, we champion flexible ways of working. Regular in-person attendance is required to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration alongside flexibility of hours to support work-life balance. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team, and your role.

What you’ll be doing

  • Investigate, analyse and create documentation of business processes, to define requirements for improving processes and systems.
  • Investigate and elicit detailed requirements to inform the development of new or improved business solutions.
  • Identify new alternative and innovative approaches to performing business activities.
  • Create and iterate viable specifications and acceptance criteria in preparation for the deployment of information and communication systems.
  • Produce detailed business models and assist in the preparation of business cases to support change and innovation, produce detailed cost and benefit analysis, gain buy-in from stakeholder by testing your assumptions.
  • Brief stakeholders and non-technical colleagues on results and options produced from analysis to ensure full understanding of any findings.

Person specification

To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:

  • Experience of working as Business Analyst on projects within an IT delivery organisation.

In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competences and behaviours will be assessed at interview:
