Job summary

This is a chance to join a dynamic SAP management, technical support and delivery team with big ambitions and an exciting implementation roadmap. DLUHC is continuing to implement bold plans to transform our SAP IT landscape and digital services. We have an ambitious 18 months ahead of us which will see us implementing and transitioning to S4 on a Cloud based platform.

As a part of Digital, the SAP Business Solutions Team, is responsible for the management and control of all SAP Finance, HR and Commercial changes and implementations across the organisation. The team provides expert support to end users and a SAP helpdesk. We are keen to attract individuals who can provide leadership and technical direction or support to ensure the timely resourcing of change initiatives and projects. The team provides Agile delivery of standard solutions where possible, driving down complexity, understanding best fit, challenging where appropriate and reducing reliance on suppliers. As part of DLUHC’s Corporate Services and cross Government initiatives, we are accountable for the strategy and end-to-end IT SAP services to support business strategies, whose purpose is to create a brilliant DLUHC environment and supporting systems for the future.

Job description

- Leading delivery, governance and assurance of SAP BASIS systems and management of staff.

- Working with third parties and specialist contractors in the team to configure and monitor SAP technical environments.

- Update/modernise documentation on BAU in the AWS and OS/DB environment (system copies, backups, database and OS upgrades, support packs, database admin on HANA and ASE).

- The lead for DLUHC SAP Interfaces, providing leadership support for both the as-is Process integration and the growing SAP SaaS integration, as well as shaping and building our future Cloud PI landscape. This will include the Cloud Connector and Business Technology Platform (BTP) setup and administration.

- Support the set up and establish the systems and monitoring using Solution Manager, Layer7 Cybersecurity Extension, Rev-Trac and SNP Test Data Organizer (TDO).

- Implement findings from EWA reports and Layer7 Cybersecurity Extension.

- Support pack and database patching.

- Day to day issue troubleshooting (SAP, database, Cloud and any ad-hoc issues).

Person specification

• SAP Basis support and project experience in SAP technologies including SAP Basis, ECC, S4/HANA, BW/HANA, SOLMAN, SAP ABAP/Java, SAP NetWeaver, SAP Portal, SAP Fiori, SAP GRC, TLS, SSO etc.

• Support and delivery experience across multiple SAP OS/DB Platforms e.g., UNIX, Windows, Linux, HANA, Sybase (ASE), MaxDB.

• Experience of using Solution Manager, RevTrac, SNP Test Data Organizer (TDO) and Layer7 Cybersecurity Extension for SAP Solution Manager.

• Experience delivering SAP upgrades and patching protocols and management of multi-landscape environments through client copies, system refreshes, and transport management.

• Infrastructure and architecture awareness e.g., networking, virtualisation, storage, middleware, OS platform and disaster recovery.

• Exposure to managing SAP on AWS, including using backint and S3 buckets for backup/restore.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to document detailed technical functional specifications, test scripts and plans and the ability to present complex information and technical information effectively to a non-technical audience.

• The ability to work in a pressurised environment, make effective decisions in changing circumstances and demonstrate resourcefulness and attention to detail with a commitment to providing a quality service.

Grade 7 salary 

  • The salary for this role is £57,091 (London) or £51,934 (National).
  • For existing civil servants, the usual policy on level transfer and promotion will apply and is non-negotiable. If you apply for a role that requires a transfer of location, for example if you are transferring from London to a National location, your salary will be adjusted in accordance with our policy on transfer between HQ pay ranges.

 
Please note that the average employer pension contribution is based upon the National minimum salary for this role. Should your agreed starting salary for this role be different, the average employer pension contribution will be calculated accordingly. If you are a Secondee, this will not apply as you will remain on your home organisation’s terms and conditions.

Internal Fraud Database 

The Internal Fraud function of the Fraud, Error, Debt and Grants Function at the Cabinet Office processes details of civil servants who have been dismissed for committing internal fraud, or who would have been dismissed had they not resigned. The Cabinet Office receives the details from participating government organisations of civil servants who have been dismissed, or who would have been dismissed had they not resigned, for internal fraud. In instances such as this, civil servants are then banned for 5 years from further employment in the civil service. The Cabinet Office then processes this data and discloses a limited dataset back to DLUHC as a participating government organisations. DLUHC then carry out the pre employment checks so as to detect instances where known fraudsters are attempting to reapply for roles in the civil service. In this way, the policy is ensured and the repetition of internal fraud is prevented.
