Working within the Total Safety Centre in a small team of safety professionals you will be the single SQEP individual that influences all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) management on a small but very busy RAF Station Reporting to the commanding officer you will be responsible for HSE ensuring compliance with legislation and MoD policy

Job description

This is a digital post that carries essential duties to ensure that legal compliance, MOD policy and best practice is achieved. The Stn Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor (SHEA) is responsible for providing advice and assistance to the commanding officer, their executives and line management in conjunction with specialist advisors, in all aspects of safety, health and environmental. You will be the focal point for any visits by enforcement agencies including the Health & Safety Executive, Environment agency or local authority. The SHEA assumes responsibility as the 4C’s duty holder, and Stn hearing conservation officer. Your role will include the maintenance and updating of the Stn Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) manual, Stn risk register (PARMIS) SHE management plans, preparation for command audits and of progress against the resultant action plans. You will organise and carry out SHE audits of all workplaces for which the CO is responsible and investigate all health and safety issues that have been brought to your attention. You will promote and ensure a high level of awareness’s of SHE and adherence to SHE policy across the Stn ensuring the completion of comprehensive risk assessments and reliable reporting of accidents and near misses. You will be responsible for accident reporting through FSIMS to Air Command, HSE and collating information required for personal injury claims. You will be required to work closely with the works organisation (regional prime contractor and OC Infra) with respect to siting boards, new projects and Stn business partners on cross boundary SHE matters. You will be required to lead the SHE team consisting of Band D Deputy SHEA/Environmental Protection Advisor and E2 admin assistant.

Person specification

This person must be highly motivated towards Health and safety and environmental protection. This person will have NEBOSH General Certificate and at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role. This person must be able to communicate to a wide range of stakeholders to effectively deliver their responsibilities
