Job summary

The Develop Directorate acts as the thought leaders for the RN, leading the development of the Royal Navy’s future warfighting capability and acting as the Design Authority for RN capabilities of the future to achieve the optimum mix of present and future warfighting technologies for a modern, global and ready Royal Navy.

Develop is divided into five parts, Strategic Force Development, Capability Sponsor, UWB, Shipbuilding and NavyX.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

The DEVELOP Directorate is large and complex, covering Force Development, Capability Sponsorship, Programme Delivery and Capability Planning. Due to the size and span of the Directorate the Business Management Team is required to support all functional business activities, programme management and governance as well as overseeing ‘business as usual’ elements of capability output.

Responsibilities

Support the Business Support Services Lead and Delivery Manager in all tasks required to provide a professional service across the Develop Directorate, including but not limited to:

  • Facilities management activities
  • Internal Health & Safety activities
  • Information Technology requirements
  • Internal Events Management e.g. Staff Away Days
  • Security

Be accountable for the information process within Develop Directorate, delivering all Information Management aspects across the Directorate, including but not limited to:

  • Develop, maintain and manage the Directorate’s electronic working areas, managing top level changes to structure and access permissions to ensure they meet business needs and comply with information security policies
  • Work closely with individuals and with team Information Management Officers to ensure that information is being captured, stored, distributed, used, and disposed of appropriately
  • Draft and maintain all required Information Management processes within the Directorate, identifying and implementing improvements as necessary
  • Coordinate the regular and timely review of paper and electronic records, ensuring that reviews are carried out in accordance with the instructions issued
  • Support the Senior Information Officer (SIO) with all information assurance activities, compliance checks and returns
  • Providing advice and guidance on Information Management activities
  • Represent the Directorate at Information Management Forums and working groups as required

Act as the main point of contact for all Communications & Engagement activities, including but not limited to:

  • Identifying and publishing key information on the Directorate SharePoint in support of Policy, Advice, Guidance and key topics of interest
  • Regular analysis of the existing Comms & Engagement Tracker
  • Identifying potential communications opportunities from across the Directorate
  • Liaison with Royal Navy Communications and Influence (RNC&I)
  • Change Advocate Network (CAN) co-ordinator for the Directorate

 Ad hoc activities in support of the Delivery Manager as required across all team functions.
