Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and diligent individual to join the Reserve Personnel Management Centre’s (RPMC) RAF Reserves Team located within HQ Air Command, RAF High Wycombe.  

This is a varied and interesting role encompassing many aspects of RAF Reserves HR where we are looking for a friendly, well-organised and adaptable Administrator to join our Team of military and civilian HR professionals and administrative staff. 

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.  As an employer we support flexible working policies, however there will be an expectation of office presence.  

Job description

The RPMC provide HR and Career Management support for established Full Time and Volunteer Reserve positions along with administration of the Base Support Groups. 

The successful candidate will facilitate the Career Management of designated Reserve Personnel by delivering the following: 

  • Conduct eligibility checks and carry out transactions on JPA 
  • Ensure Attestation forms are completed correctly
  • Ensure individuals are added to Promotion courses in a timely manner through ACS Halton
  • Substantiate individuals in rank after attendance of appropriate promotion course 
  • Mobilisation of RAuxAF personnel when required 
  • Terminations  
  • Extension of contracts 
  • Career Intermissions/JPAN Moves/any ad-hoc transactions in support of the above 
  • Provide SME advice to designated Squadrons, Unit HRs, and Line Managers in Reserve business 
  • Become an SME on HR and JPA Career Management actions of Reserve personnel 
  • Develop effective understanding of policy relating to all RAF Reserves business 
  • Any other tasks as directed by Line Manager, commensurate with grade 

Person specification

Essential:

Good oral and written communication skills are required as this role involves daily contact with a wide array of civilian and military colleagues at various grades and ranks

Wider experience and knowledge of IT hardware, Information Management and Data Protection would be an advantage

A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word/Excel/Outlook)

Desirable: 

A good working knowledge of JPA (not essential as training/experience will evolve in the role)

Knowledge/experience of the RAF
