Job description

As a Remedies Manager, you will play a key role ensuring the CMA’s interventions have a positive impact.

You will be responsible for identifying cases for enforcement and enforcing the law for the protection of consumers.

You can expect to be involved in:

  • Monitoring compliance with remedies
  • Investigating non-compliance with remedies
  • Taking action to enforce compliance with remedies
  • Advising on the effective design and implementation of remedies
  • Reviewing remedies that may need to be varied, superseded or revoked

You may also be involved in consumer-focused advocacy, producing guidance for businesses and consumers, and supporting the CMA in its international role as a leading consumer protection authority.

Person specification

Essential:

  • Experience of successfully managing or delivering projects either through leading a project or in a relevant supporting role and delivering results within challenging timeframes. (Lead Criteria)
  • Experience of engaging and developing relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external. (Lead Criteria)
  • Experience of creating practical solutions to problems, combined with an insight or experience into monitoring policy or compliance outcomes.
  • Experience of managing and leading staff, including performance management, supporting personal development, overseeing work carried out and providing quality assurance.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including drafting documents and communications for a wide variety of audiences.

Desirable:

  • Relevant knowledge of economics, competition law, or finance.
  • Undergraduate degree or similar equivalent qualification.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles (opens in a new window), and will assess your Behaviours and Experience.

The selection process will comprise of the sift (CV & application review) and interview.

An initial sift based on lead criteria 1 and 2 may be held if a large number of applications are received.

If your application then progresses to a full sift, all elements of the essential criteria listed under Person Specification of the role profile will then be considered.

The sifting dates are 30th July to 2nd August 2024

If your application is successful, you will be invited to attend an interview.

This will be a 45-60 minute panel interview, where you will be asked behaviour-based questions based on the behaviours and experience specified in the role profile.

Interviews will be held on MS Teams/face to face in London.

You will also be asked to undertake a work based task in advance of your interview.

You will be notified via email to log-in to your Civil Service Account to book your interview slot. You will then be sent an email with full details of your arrangements for interview.

Interviews will be held between 12th and 16th August 2024.
