As a Development Director, you will lead performance and manage the delivery of an ambitious business plan across the South region to achieve the successful delivery of a major portfolio of complex programmes to de-risk, develop and dispose of land, to drive infrastructure development and enable delivery of homes across England that drive housing delivery at significant scale.


Job description

Reporting into the National Development Director, you be accountable for programme delivery through the successful leadership and coordination of multi-disciplinary teams of technical and professional specialists. As part of your role, you will oversee local strategy to work with regional markets, regeneration schemes, technical, land acquisition teams and delivery partners to identify/support solutions to operational risks aligned to strategic priorities.

A key part of the role will involve effective management and delivery of annual targets within a designated region as part of the strategic business plan to ensure that they are achieved in budget and to the required timescales.

Person specification

You will have extensive experience of working at senior level in the housing sector, with significant knowledge of technical, legal, design and sustainability standards, risk and health and safety requirements. Having a relevant degree/qualification or equivalent professional experience is essential for the role.    

You'll be comfortable supporting a large team with complex project delivery issues, aiming to keep to programme and attain business plan targets. You will be proficient in working with multiple stakeholders simultaneously.

As a Development Director, you will have demonstratable interpersonal skills, with an ability to form robust and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders with professional credibility, resilience and integrity. Furthermore, you will utilise these skills to influence and shape how you collaboratively work with colleagues at all levels across the Agency, to embed the values and behaviours that underpin Homes England.
