Job summary

We have an exciting fixed term opportunity to join our friendly and supportive team of archives and records management professionals. The Records Assistant role supports the Records Management team, primarily focusing on paper records maintained in Kew’s central records Registry system. You will create new registered files as requested, add new papers to existing files and oversee the closure of inactive files.

Additionally, the role provides key information services to staff - researching and answering a wide range of enquiries about access to and information from paper records. You will also assist the Records Manager in publicising and administering internal training and answering enquiries from staff about managing electronic records as we work to implement our SharePoint Electronic Document and Records Management system (EDRMS) across Kew.

Job description

This Records Assistant position is well suited to someone who is self-motivated and is looking to enter or gain experience in the records profession, as it includes a range of tasks across paper and electronic records management. The role requires a high level of accuracy, and customer focus. You will have access to a wealth of opportunities for individual and professional development. You will be required to handle large, heavy and/or fragile items.

Person specification

This role is based at Kew with the option of regular home working for 1 day per week, subject to operational requirements.

Interviews are expected to be held in the week beginning with 5 August 2024.
