Kew Publishing produces books for all ages on botany, horticulture, art, history and lifestyle inspired by Kew’s work and collections. Publishing under our own imprint and in partnership with others, our publications inspire and educate people about our work and provide access to Kew’s unique heritage, collections, knowledge and cutting-edge expertise whilst also generating income that helps support Kew’s important activities. The role of Publishing Assistant is essential to the output and commercial success of Kew Publishing.

Job description

We are looking for a passionate and organised candidate to join our highly productive and creative small team, working across the publishing portfolio in a collaborative and administrative capacity. Educated to degree level, or with equivalent experience, we are looking for a candidate with previous office-based experience, preferably in a marketing or editorial capacity. An interest in the publishing process and a strong customer focus are essential. Sensitivity and tact are required in this pivotal role within the publishing team, which involves interacting with clients, distribution partners, authors, and a variety of stakeholders.

Person specification

Essential to the role is excellent prioritisation, time-management and organisation, along with strong personal motivation and drive, and use of own initiative and flexibility. Good IT literacy and written and oral communication are required, and an excellent ability to work with numbers and prepare reports.
