Here at Chief Digital Information Office (CDIO) we recognise the need for a change in the way we do business to remove bureaucracy, improve our agility and maximise our investment in the front-line.

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated project delivery professionals to join the team at CDIO which will enable the successful delivery of change initiatives, cohere the various Digital programmes and Projects, ensure Through Life Management and develop the 
right behaviours and mindsets. 

This position will be based at DMS Whittington, Lichfield and is 37 hours a week. 

The Defence Medical Services offer hybrid working. The HQ and primary location for the DMS is Lichfield.  Other base locations may be available depending on business need and whether the location can accommodate additional personnel on site. Other locations that may be considered are MOD Corsham, RAF Wyton, MOD Abbey Wood - Bristol, MOD Northwood and MOD Shrivenham.

Strategic Command Transformation 

Strategic Command is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to improve the way the Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, all posts within Strategic Command Headquarters and in time the wider organisation, are/will be subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. These changes may be minor or could be more substantive and will generate new opportunities.  Throughout, the Command’s transformation programme is committed to following the MOD’s framework on managing and supporting people through the change process and places an emphasis on early and open consultation and engagement with the Command’s personnel and Trade Unions. 

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining a positive culture around the projects and programmes at all levels in the Defence Medical Service (DMS), wider Ministry of 
Defence (MOD) and across United Kingdom (UK) Healthcare Sector. Working closely with the
Chief Digital Information Officer and Senior Responsible Owners, (SROs), the role will ensure 
teams, contributors and stakeholders engage with enthusiasm building around a common 
vision of change and a new operating model to meet the strategic intent. With the increasing need to manage our resources as flexibly as we can to deliver our objectives, this role could have the opportunity to lead on several wider DMS Projects in pursuit of the DMS Quadruple Aim: Improving Patient Outcomes; Increasing Deploryability; Improving the lived experience of our people and Delivering increased Value for Money.

Main details of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the delivery of project outcomes (time, cost, quality), providing clear and effective reporting of status. 
  • Leading and supporting governance reviews as required.
  • Working with dependent programmes and projects to align schedules, deconflict, collaborate and identify opportunities. 
  • Projecting schedules and milestones, demonstrating known dependencies and critical path. 
  • Collaborating with DMS Transformation Portfolio Office (TXO), and SROs to develop and maintain critical relationships and stakeholder management across the DMS & with wider Defence stakeholders as required.
