The team of Power, Control and Telecommunications comprises engineering experts for Electrical Power, Telecoms and Signalling. We are concerned about the long term operation, maintenance, renewal and enhancement of railways infrastructure. We support our Operations, Economic and Safety colleagues assuring a safe, economic and reliable railway.

Job description

This role sits within the Directorate of Railway Planning and Performance, reporting to the Head of Train Control Systems. 

The Engineering and Asset Management team is a key centre of expertise within the ORR for technical/engineering and is comprised of 20 people. 

The main purpose of the role is to provide expert Digital Signalling and software management input to support all of ORR’s functions as a combined economic and safety regulator. In addition, the role provides asset management expertise and advice to other engineering disciplines on multi-discipline. 

More specifically Digital Signalling engineering encompasses; the technology that supports digital signalling such as ETCS, Traffic Management and DAS. It also includes the specific processes required for safety critical software applications.
