Job description

The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Driven by government’s aim for clean, healthy, safe, productive and biologically diverse oceans and seas, MMO’s purpose is to protect and enhance our precious marine environment and support UK economic growth by enabling sustainable marine activities and development.

We are the independent regulator for England’s seas, professionally delivering service-focussed outcomes for our customers.

We are a team of around 400 people and combine our Newcastle upon Tyne and London operations with a local presence around the English coastline in Brixham, Beverley, Harwich, Hastings, Lowestoft, North Shields, Hayle, Plymouth, Poole, Portsmouth, Preston, Scarborough, Shoreham and Whitehaven.

More information about our work is available on the GOV.UK website.

Job description

This is a really exciting time to join the MMO as we are now an independent coastal state, embedding new repatriated functions and services with an increased focus on the protection and enhancing of the marine environment.

As PA to the Chair and Board Secretariat, your role will be integral to MMO’s leadership, providing VIP support to the Chair and ensuring the smooth operation of Board affairs. This role will place you in routine contact with the organisation’s key figures, establishing you as a trusted pillar for the Chair’s daily operations and broader board responsibilities.

Responsibilities include supporting the arrangement of the annual board planner, including biannual stakeholder events, preparing high-level briefings, and undertaking professional minute-taking suitable for public consumption. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess exceptional organizational skills, and excel in providing top-tier support to senior executives and board members, this role is perfect for you. Join us in shaping the future of our organisation at its highest levels of governance.
