The Role

We’re recruiting for an Operation Security Manager here at Justice Digital, to be part of our warm and collaborative Engineering, Platform, and Architecture team.

This role aligns against Security Architect from the Government Digital and Data Framework

We are recruiting for an Operational Security Manager (OSM) to manage the daily operational security of a critical MOJ digital service used by thousands of external organisations. 

Criminal Justice Secure e-Mail (CJSM) is used by over 8,000 organisations each year and forms the backbone of justice sector communications as it provides a secure email service in addition to identity validation and security assurance.

The service is under a managed services contract (MSP) with a supplier, and an OSM is required to be a key liaison between the Supplier, Lead Cyber Consultant, the Service Owner and users on operational activities and risk management.

The individual fulfilling this role will have support from the CJSM Lead Cyber Consultant and the Platforms and Architecture Cyber Team.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of existing CJSM security controls
  • Responsible for identifying risks and opportunities for improvement with current security controls and operational processes
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of the service’s operational security processes both internally and with the supplier (i.e., incident management)
  • Responsible for supporting the Lead Cyber Security Consultant and Service Owner in Security activities within projects
  • Responsible for managing the running of Security Assurance processes
  • Responsible for reporting on security compliance across the service (i.e., security assurance assessments, incidents, and security operation activities)
  • Responsible for supporting the Lead Cyber Security Consultant and Service Owner in making key risk based decisions
  • Responsible for communicating security information to the CJSM community including security assurance requirements and vulnerability notifications
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining an internal audit schedule and supporting external audits (i.e., CAF)
  • Responsible for tracking, managing and reporting on vulnerabilities discovered throughout the service with the supplier

 Person Specification

Essential

  • An individual who is exceptionally organised, motivated, and attentive to detail
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, namely Excel and Word
  • An individual who is driven to learn and develop their skills, ideally someone looking for a career in cyber security, data governance and/or compliance
  • An individual who is confident with communicating with external stakeholders, including writing guidance and documentation that will be published externally
  • A general understanding of UK Data Protection requirements
  • Understanding and awareness of project, change and business improvement techniques
  • Ability to manage concurrent workloads across diverse workstreams in a timely fashion
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 

Willingness to be assessed against  the requirements for SC clearance
