Job description

Your world of expertise

As a leading contributor to United Nations climate research, the Met Office knows first-hand how greenhouse gas emissions are impacting our climate. One of our key objectives will be to drive our ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 on our journey to Net Zero. Our success will critically depend on our procurement processes and supplier relationships.

We need a Net Zero Supplier Engagement Manager who is as passionate and committed as we are in this area, to drive our supplier engagement forward and lead the way on Scope 3 carbon reduction plans in support of our Net Zero goals.

As our Net Zero Supplier Engagement Manager, your key duties will be:

  • Engage and liaise with Operational Contract Managers / relationship managers and supplier Net Zero representatives to support and drive forward the Met Office emissions pathway.
  • Working with our Commercial Team to design the procurement processes to support the implementation of commercial requirements to deliver Scope 3 in accordance with Government policy and Met Office strategy.
  • Be responsible for the collation of data to inform overall Net Zero (Scope 3) regular reporting as required. Work to design, monitor and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and objectives.
  • Own the Supplier Emissions Questionnaire and collate the questionnaire output from major suppliers to create an emissions pathway. Document the progress made by key suppliers.
  • Use our spend data to identify and work with our top suppliers under the relevant categories to embed Net Zero within our procurement processes.
  • Work with our Commercial team and Operational Contract Managers on strategic Net Zero plans and ambitions to embed into processes for new suppliers and contract management.
  • Through engagement with government and wider forums stay on top of evolving requirements, current trends, developments, and best practice in relation to Scope 3 emissions.
