Job summary

As part of Royal Navy’s Personnel and Families Support pillar, the RN Accommodation Team support the RN Housing Colonel and the Service community as the delivery lead for all military accommodation provision.

Following the roll out of the New Accommodation Offer policy, an increasing number of Service personnel will be able to source their own rental properties. They may in some circumstances require Housing Colonel authority or support to secure a tenancy.

As a Case Manager, acting on behalf of the RN Housing Colonel, you will be the interface between support and delivery organisations, ensuring that accommodation policy is correctly applied, and timely outcomes are received by Service personnel and their families. You will need to be a highly organised and motivated individual.

A fundamental part of this customer and delivery partner facing role requires being able to work at pace and will involve liaising closely with internal and external stakeholders. Therefore, an ability to build and maintain positive working relationships is essential.

The successful applicant must have a working understanding of SharePoint sites, MS Teams, O365 applications, the ability to multitask and work collaboratively within a team. 

This position is 37 hours per week.

Job description

As the RN Accommodation Case Manager, you will be responsible for providing decisive and timely direction and guidance on behalf of the RN Housing Colonel.

The primary duties of the role include, but are not limited to;

  1. Investigating and delivering responses to complaints and casework related to the provision of Families Accommodation under the New Accommodation Offer policy.
  2. Applying financial delegated responsibility for approval of Specially Approved Rates (SAR) of Rental Payments where appropriate.
  3. Lead and manage timely case conferences, providing decisive direction and guidance on behalf of the RN Housing Colonel.
  4. Work closely within the RN Housing Colonel accommodation team to ensure that parity and fairness is applied to all direction and guidance given.
  5. Be the focal point for the MOD Accommodation Support Cell, Navy units Chain of Command and HR staff as necessary.
  6. Maintain confidentiality and required data protection of personal information.
  7. Maintain and extend professional knowledge, keeping up to date with policy developments.
  8. Represent the RN Housing Colonel at appropriate meetings both online and in person as necessary.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

      Person specification

      This role involves customer facing interactions therefore an exceptionally strong organisational skills, be focused on attention to detail, is flexible, self-motivated, and able to achieve results using their own initiative.

      Experience in a fast-paced role, working on your own as well as part of a team, problem solving skills and the ability to multitask is desired.

      The use of IT systems including SharePoint sites, MS Teams, O365 applications, social media platforms for day-to-day business will necessitate a good standard of IT literacy.

      There will be occasions to attend/support offsite meetings/briefings, therefore a driving licence would be desirable. A flexible approach to workload and supporting colleagues are key to undertaking this role.

      Working hours are between 0830- 1700 dependant on the business needs. Application of the flexible working scheme needs to take this into account. Please note this is a newly established role due to the changes within accommodation policy, the successful applicant will likely assist in further shaping the role.
