Job summary

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of a major recapitalisation programme to regenerate His Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth HMNB(P) to enable our Armed Forces to protect, defend and support everyday life?

The HMNB(P) Infrastructure Team are currently seeking individuals who are ambitiously driven to support in the delivery of a dynamic programme to regenerate the Naval base and to actively lead the improvement of evidenced based decision making across the function through the developing culture of data and management information, specifically around Space Management and Rationalisation.

The Naval dockyard can be traced back to 1194 and although it has undergone several significant redevelopments in this time it still hosts a unique set of heritage maritime assets, many of which are maintained in daily use today. The base is one of the most complex Defence industrial sites and is at the start of a major period of recapitalisation to support future sustainable Navy operations through the 21st Century.

The Naval Base estate is a diverse and complex environment which presents niche challenges and possibilities across the wide range of operational assets. It is home to almost two-thirds of the Royal Navy's surface ships, including the aircraft carriers HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales, Type 45 destroyers, Type 23 frigates and mine countermeasures and fishery protection squadrons.

The base is a major employer and provides lodging facilities to RN personnel serving at the base and in Portsmouth-based ships.

Experience, whilst beneficial, is not essential as there is a programme of initial and continuous training and development opportunities available to enable you to meet your current and developing challenges.

In Navy Command, our civil servants work alongside their military colleagues in jobs that matter; jobs which often have a direct impact on the quality of the operational capabilities we deliver.  Roles can offer great job satisfaction and there are many opportunities to develop and progress both within the Department and across the wider Civil Service.
