Royal Naval Armaments Depot (Coulport) is the UK Strategic Weapons Facility. Its Primary Role is to process, store and issue the UK’s Strategic Deterrent to the Royal Navy. It is a department of HM Naval Base Clyde. It is a facility which frequently operates 24/7 throughout the year.

Job description

The Programme Support Manager (PSM) is responsible for provision of support for ensuring that outputs are delivered through the management, monitoring and maintenance of all elements of the Strategic Weapon Systems Outsource Contract (SWSOC) vested in the ABL Industrial Alliance. The PSM provides assistance to Deputy Superintendent Armaments Depot in the management and reporting to the HMNB Clyde Level 1 Plan. In addition the PSM acts as Business Manager for the MOD Authority Intelligent Customer cadre at cross departmental business support forums.  The PSM leads a small but diverse team providing support to the SADC Management Board and manages the oversight of RNAD Coulport Material Account.

Person specification

It is important through your application and Statement of Suitability of no more than 750 words that you give evidence and examples of each of the essential criteria (for full details of essential criteria please refer to the attached job description):

  • Experience of writing and preparing reports and business cases for senior colleagues and / or meetings.
  • Experience or understanding of operational delivery; budget management; business planning; and/ or business continuity processes.
  • Experienced of use of systems to order goods and services and an understanding of relevant policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work without supervision working to tight and often changing timescales.
  • Ability to lead a team and effectively manage team dynamics to drive forward a shared goal.
  • Experienced in IT skills, advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience of working with a public sector environment would be beneficial.

STAGE 1 - APPLICATION & SIFT: 

You will be required to complete a numerical and verbal online test. Upon completion you will be asked to submit a 750 word Statement of Suitability.  Please use this to outline your skills, experience, and achievements, providing evidence of your suitability for the role, with reference to the criteria (outlined in the Job Description).

If you are successful at this stage, you will progress to an interview.

STAGE 2 – INTERVIEW 

This competition will involve an interview.  

As part of the process, candidates will be invited to interview which will involve a discussion of your previous experience.  We will use competency-based questions to assess the behaviours.
