Job summary

Her Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde (HMNB Clyde) is home to the United Kingdom’s Strategic Nuclear Deterrent, Astute Class Attack Submarines, Sandown Class Mine Hunter Vessels and 43 Cdo Royal Marines. We an operational support and maintenance base, within the Navy Command TLB and comprises both Faslane and Coulport sites. HMNB Clyde’s primary purpose is to provide engineering and logistical support to the Royal Navy in maintaining Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD). This is achieved by ensuring at least one Vanguard Class submarine is on patrol at sea every day of the year.

The HMNB Clyde Design Authority (DA) are responsible for adequate safety justification and design substantiation of the site’s nuclear facilities. We are looking for a senior planner to co-ordinate and align our activities into a rolling programme of work. This includes oversight and integration with our agreed industrial partners work programme.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

The DA Senior planner is responsible in leading a small team to develop, upkeep and run the DA Work Control System co-ordinating with the internal team and working with the DA senior leadership team to align the programme of work to the teams’ priorities. This includes:

  • Development and management of the coordinated master schedule for the DA work, including integration with both Infrastructure and Operating programmes and other relevant work programmes.
  • Production and upkeep of the DA RACI across all DA partners.
  • Change Management / Control of the DA integrated schedule.
  • Management of the DA integrated schedule resource management plan (including DA resource / skills baseline)
  • Performance management and reporting against the DA integrated schedule.
  • Assurance of delivery

The role will also provide management support to the Deputy Head Design Authority managing the Design Authority Risks, assistance in financial planning and reporting to the base management boards.

Person specification

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Meticulous planning and project management skills to deliver short, medium- and long-term activities.
  • Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure outcomes through collaboration.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with a wide range of partners at all levels of the business.
  • It is desirable to have experience within the UK nuclear industry
