Job summary

His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde (HMNB Clyde) is home to the United Kingdom’s Strategic Nuclear Deterrent, Astute Class Attack Submarines, First Mine Counter Measure Squadron and 43 Cdo Royal Marines. It is an operational support and maintenance base, within the Navy Command TLB and comprises both Faslane and Coulport sites. HMNB Clyde’s primary purpose is to provide engineering and logistical support to the Royal Navy in maintaining Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD). This is achieved by ensuring at least one Vanguard Class submarine is on patrol at sea every day of the year. RNAD Coulport is responsible for the storage, processing, maintenance and issue of the Trident Weapon System and the ammunitioning of all submarine-embarked tactical weapons.  

The Clyde Risk Manager post works in the Strategy & Governance team within the Business Department of the NBC Clyde organisation. They will be a key driver for Risk Management across HMNB Clyde.

The Strategy and Governance team is currently undergoing transformation to meet the demands of HMNB Clyde and is looking for someone enthusiastic and ambitious to join the team. The Clyde Risk Manager is required to be agile and open to developing as the team evolves to meet future demands.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

The Clyde Risk Manager is responsible to the Clyde Programme Manager for the development and management of the HMNB Clyde Risk Management Process.They will act as a driver for Risk Management across the wider Clyde community to collate risks and encourage integration and cohesion across all stakeholder groups working towards a holistic risk strategy. The Risk Manager will have the opportunity to engage with stakeholders across the base and learn about the various organisations operating at Clyde.

Roles and responsibilities:
•    Be the lead and principal point of contact for risk management within NBC Clyde (NBC(C)).
•    Own, develop and improve the NBCC Risk management governance and related processes.
•    Be a champion for strategic risk management at the base and promote a common understanding and application throughout NBC Clyde.
•    Facilitate Risk Management at Clyde strategic level by holding regular Risk Reviews with Directors and link into wider NBCC Governance.
•    Engage with wider Navy Command on risk matters.
•    Contribute to Business Planning and Strategy planning activities such as the development of the Annual Business Plan.
•    Develop team members and enhance quality of outputs through the sharing of knowledge, experience and information.
•    Undertake additional tasks identified by the Line Manager or directly from Asst Hd S&G.
•    Be an integral part in the development of the One Clyde Integration Office - this is an initiative to improve Governance and decision making across One Clyde.
