As our Media Studio Manager you will work a hybrid pattern and will be on site at Exeter HQ a minimum of three days per week. You can choose to work more frequently in our state-of-the-art office if you'd prefer.

As our Media Studio Manager, your starting salary will be £32100.00. New joiners to the Met Office will start on the salary band minimum. Our 2022-25 pay award means the salary will increase to £33559.00 from 1st April 2024, and you will be able to progress towards £36000.00 over time.

Your total reward package is potentially worth up to £44,696 annually, which includes basic salary, potential corporate bonus and employer pension contributions.

Job description

Job Purpose:

As our Media Studio Manager, your key responsibilities are:

  • Develop, support and maintain the broadcast Studio and manage every element of technical production, business continuity, training, software updates and the smooth running of the studio.
  • Lead operator of the Studio as part of wider team roster, as well as creating and managing this roster.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operational delivery of media files to customers and syndication partners.
  • Ensure the ongoing resilience of the studio including assessing risks, documenting processes and workflow, and providing a range of disaster recovery options, costings and recommendations to ensure we meet agreed SLAs in the event of a technical fault.
  • Liaise with relevant agencies to upgrade and service the Studio where required to meet customer contracts.
  • Provide technical expertise and advice and ensure that Met Office broadcast capability remains innovative and at pace with advancing technologies.
  • Manage the end-to-end technical process of live streaming
  • Lead on cross-office studio production training to ensure we have enough people trained to support the 24/7 nature of the Studio.
  • Investigate and lead on new ways of presenting content such as touch screen technology.
  • Task management of camera/video editors, studio operators and other members of the team who cover studio tasks.

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Evidence of strong technical skills with an ability to rapidly grasp and adapt to new technologies.
  2. Experienced in the use of video and audio equipment.
  3. You will need to be better together and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, including working in a team in a busy environment.
  4. Experience creating and managing technical processes and completing routine tasks with precise attention to detail.
  5. Able to demonstrate confidence in taking ownership of unforeseen challenges and working to proactively find solutions and minimise impacts.
  6. Evidence of transferable skills in technical support or managing schedules or project management or operational service delivery.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
